FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS

Atty. Norman H Roos, Chair -- Hartford
Phone: (860) 275-8358

This section is comprised of professionals, a significant portion of whose practice concerns financial institutions. Originally formed to promote a forum for lawyers representing the banking industry, the section recognized the increased scope of activities of banks by amending its bylaws in 1997. The section is somewhat unique in that it does not focus on a discrete area of law, but rather on a variety of issues affecting the financial institutions industry.

The section has as its goals: (1) the education of its memberships; (2) promoting camaraderie among lawyers active in the representation of financial institutions; (3) providing a stimulating environment for the discussion of relevant legal issues; (4) presenting speakers who will inform and challenge the membership and others; (5) providing the membership with opportunities to participate in the drafting, commenting on or development of legislation, regulation, uniform codes and the like, and relevant amicus curiae opportunities; (6) informing others in the Bar of important developments affecting the representation of financial institutions; and (7) attracting new members who will expand the expertise of our membership in insurance and securities issues.
